Hi Michael,
This is an earlier shorter version, Lori kept working at this much more until she passed away in February 2017. I would be glad to provide you with an updated (free) pdf as soon as it is ready (we are waiting for the ISBN number for the pdf, it has to be different than the book one!).

Here is what she asked when she transferred the final version to some of us (Bill, Marguerite, Rand and me) on January 27th, 2017. I had promised her to publish it (edited) on the Linguistic atlas website before the end of the year, which I did (for the English version). I ask that you do not circulate/use the earlier version you provided a link to, without care, as it (probably) contains errors and was not the version that Lori wanted to leave behind.

I'm attaching English and French versions of Into Algonquian. Please feel free to adapt them in any useful way possible, changing examples, etc. I would simply like to help maintain the various languages.

Marie-Odile, la version française a besoin d'être corrigée et je n'ai plus la concentration pour le faire. Désolée.

Thanks for all of your collective help; it was greatly appreciated. Rand, please feel free to fix the Ojibway version; I am pretty sure I messed it royally up in places.

I still dream of this document being interactive and on-line. Perhaps some day.

As some of you may know, Loris Morris from UQAM, suddenly passed away 14 months ago. Her book “Into Algonquian: A language awareness program” is now available here:
An e-book version will be available shortly, and the French version is in the works.

Into Algonquian is an exploration of a number of key linguistic and sociolinguistic topics designed to build a better understanding of where the Algonquian languages come from, how they work and the challenges currently faced by their speakers.
