A more accessible paper can be found in Fiedel, (1978) "Algonquian Origins: A Problem in Archaeological - Linguistic Correlation, <b>Archaeology of Eastern North America 15</b> . The issue of equating a pottery complex with a people is problematic. Recent archaeological research in Ontario has shown Late Woodland sites for instance to have been populated by Algonquian people despite the fact that the vast majority of the cultural remains would be assigned to the <i>Ontario Iroquois Tradition</i>. <br><br>The migration North to South of EA more likely represents the spread of early Late Woodland Dorset Peoples as far south as New England, Maine and Rhode Island. The architecture of many of the so called "mystery peoples" (Vikings, Minoans, Chinese, or some other 'wayfarers') is observed in association with pottery referred to in the literature as Stage 2 Pottery, which is identical in technology and design with Princess Point. The identical similarities, despite the chronological distance between the the two types, yields a clue with regard to migration theories, oral history (hint: George Copeway), and cultural contact between people.<br><br><br>
