In Tagalog (Philippines, Luzon, Manila and surrounding provinces), the
partitive structure is
numeral + _sa_ [the multi-purpose preposition] + nominal group [or
equivalent filling the same slot].
e.g. 1 isá sa mangá táumbáyan [táo "people" + -ng (ligature) + báyan
"town"]
         / one / PREP / pl. / town-dweller /
        "one of the inhabitants"
e.g. 2 tatló sa sampû katáo
           / three / PREP / thirteen / person /
        "three out of ten people"
e.g. 3 dalawá sa labíng-ánim na mangingisdâ
            / two / PREP / sixteen / ligature / fisherman /
        "two of the sixteen fishermen"
e.g. 4 ang ika-ápat sa (mangá) nagsísitakbó
            / in-focus marker / fourth / PREP / (pl.) / running [plural
verbal form] /
            "the fourth of the runners"
