Hello everyone, and happy new year!

This message is for the Indonesian speakers and scholars out there in
AN-LANG world.

I'm interested in how quantifiers work in simple sentences like (1a,b):
(1)
a.	Semua / banyak	mahasiswa membaca	buku itu
All	many	student ACT-read	book that
	'All/many students read that book.'

b.	Semua / banyak	buku	dibaca (oleh)	Nando
All	many	book PASS-read by Nando
'All/many of the books were read by Nando.'

Can the quantifiers semua 'all' and banyak 'many' appear anywhere
else in the above sentences, separate from the NPs which they modify?
For example, would the sentences in (2a,b) make sense, and would they
have the same meanings as (1a,b) respectively?

(2)
a.	Mahasiswa membaca "Tempo"	semua / banyak
Student ACT-read	Tempo	all / many
	'All/many students read "Tempo".'

b.	Buku	dibaca (oleh)	Nando	semua / banyak
Book PASS-read by Nando	all / many
'All/many of the books were read by Nando.'

I would also like to know if adding "itu" after "mahasiswa" and
"buku" improves the sentences. Finally, does adding "-nya" after
"semua" have any effect?

Many thanks,
Whitney
