Enggano language vitality

Recent anecdotal reports from visitors to Enggano island (off the coast of
Bengkulu, Sumatra) is that they have never heard Enggano being spoken there.
I am aware of an undated undergraduate paper from Universitas Bengkulu which
states (in its title) that Enggano language is endangered, and a nice (1994)
cultural study by Pieter der Keurs, but as the former study is undated, and
the latter is over a decade old, I am in need of more current information
regarding Enggano's vitality. Estimates of Engganese population range from
400 to 1400, not counting outsiders on the island.

Is anyone able to help?

Many thanks,

Karl Anderbeck
