IMPROVING CAPACITY IN NATIVE TITLE RESEARCH: ANTHROPOLOGICAL ISSUES & CONCEPTS

The deadline for registrations is fast approaching. Places are still available for all three days of the workshop to be held in Brisbane on 26, 27 and 28 March 2008.

The three day workshop will take participants through a range of issues relevant to the practice of native title in Australia. Three professionals currently working in native title will present both theoretical and case study materials. Workshop participants will then have the opportunity to discuss and problem-solve in small groups. The workshop content will be relevant to those working within native title and those who encounter native title issues through the course of their day-to-day work.

Participants are invited from a range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds. Already, interest has come from those working for Native Title Representative Bodies, State and Federal government agencies, universities and private companies and has included anthropologists, lawyers, researchers, historians, cultural heritage managers and archaeologists.

We have established a webpage with links to a registration form, which also provides detailed information about the agenda, venue, accommodation and transport.
