This was sent to me, but I'm not a native speaker of any of the Philippine
languages mentioned. Perhaps someone on this list might be interested.

Dear Filipino Language Specialists:

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) still has
openings for *Cebuano, Hiligaynon and Tausug *language specialists. We
would like to see if you have colleagues who might be interested. We invite
and encourage all interested candidates to formally apply. We are seeking
experienced language teachers, people in teaching related positions,
translators, interpreters and general linguists for this
opportunity. Please forward the following information to anyone who might
be interested:

The main role of the language specialist will be to conduct oral
proficiency interview (OPI) testing in the target language. The linguist
must be proficient at the native speaker level in Cebuano, Hiligaynon or
Tausug and must reside in the United States (US citizenship is not
required). You would be trained (at no cost) as an Interagency Language
Roundtable (ILR) OPI Tester. The OPI is a nationally recognized measure of
spoken language proficiency that is rated using the ILR scale. The test is
conducted over the telephone. As an ILR OPI tester for ACTFL’s testing office,
Language Testing International, you would be trained and certified as a
tester and then would be called upon to conduct testing on an as needed
basis between the hours of 9am – 3pm Monday-Friday (Eastern Time).
Linguists know when they are scheduled for a test because they provide
their availability to ACTFL on a monthly basis and then are matched to
tests as they are requested.

You would be paid $1000 for completing the training and certification
process. The steps in the training process are described below. All costs
to attend the training in White Plains are paid on your behalf.

   - Attend the ILR OPI Tester Training Phase I Workshop (4 day) on *October
8-11, 2015 in White Plains, NY.*
   - Complete a homework assignment following Phase I that demonstrates how
well you mastered the concepts taught during the workshop.
   - Attend an ILR OPI Tester Training Phase II Workshop (4 day) on *November
5-8, 2015 in White Plains, NY.*
   - The Phase I and Phase II training workshops are held in White Plains,
NY. All travel costs are paid by ACTFL.
   - Complete a round of three guided practice telephone oral proficiency
interviews from home within 2 weeks of your participation in the Phase II
workshop. You will receive feedback on each guided interview from an
experienced tester. You will need to find speak people who speak your
language on any level to interview.
   - Complete a round of three unguided practice telephone interviews from
home within 2 weeks of having completed your guided interviewed. You will
need to find an additional three people who speak your language on any
level to interview. You will not be able to reuse any of the interviewees
you used in the previous round.
   - Your work, from your performance in Phase I though your unguided
practice interviews, will be reviewed by ACTFL's ILR Review Board. They
will decide whether to recommend you to ACTFL for qualification as a tester.
   - Once you are certified, you will called upon to conduct testing on an
as needed basis. All testing is conducted from your home landline phone so
   no travel is required.

If you are interested in formally applying, please complete the attached
application and return it to me with your resume. If you have questions or
need more information, I'd be glad to speak with you. Please call me
anytime at 646-387-7450.

Additional information can be found by going to www.actftraining.org and
reading the information under the heading ILR OPI tester training.

If you are not interested in this opportunity but know of someone else who
might be, please forward this information.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards.
