open-access academic series, called <font

Island Melanesia</i></b></font>.<br>

be dedicated to peer-reviewed scholarly work on the
languages of Island Melanesia. The target domain
encompasses the eastern islands of Papua New Guinea
(Bismarck archipelago, Bougainville, etc.), the Solomon
Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia.<br>

De Gruyter Mouton, the publication of open access materials
(e-books, journals etc.) by the department of <a

the College of Asia and the Pacific (ANU) is re-branded as <b><i>Asia-Pacific
Linguistics: Open Access</i></b>. </font></font><font
size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">The series <i>Studies in
the Languages of Island Melanesia</i> (in short, SLIM) will
be available online at no cost</font></font><font size="+1"><font
face="Book Antiqua">, in the form of downloadable PDF files</font></font><font
size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">, from the </font></font><font
size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua"><i></i></font></font><font
size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua"><i>Asia-Pacific Linguistics:
Open Access</i></font></font><font size="+1"><font
face="Book Antiqua"> (formerly <i>Pacific Linguistics</i>) <a

size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">In terms of contents, the SLIM
series will be open to high-quality scholarly writings whose
nature or size would not make them suitable for the new <b><i>Pacific
Linguistics</i> monograph series</b> published by De Gruyter
Mouton. Thus, while reference grammars may still form part of
the main printed catalogue, our SLIM series will typically
include:<br>

collections of papers</font></font></li>
<li><font color="#330000" size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">monographs
focused on a particular topic</font></font></li>

sketches and shorter grammars</font></font></li>
<li><font color="#330000" size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">lexicons
and dictionaries</font></font></li>
<li><font color="#330000" size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">text
collections</font></font></li>
</ul>
<font size="+1"><font face="Book Antiqua">The idea is to offer an
outlet to those scholarly works which would have been, in the
past, published by <i>Pacific Linguistics</i>, and which can
now benefit greatly from the newly available format of online,
Open Access publication. <br>
<br>
Submission is open to all, and will be assessed, both internally
and externally, based on their scholarly quality, following a
standard procedure of academic peer-reviewing. Even though all
volumes will be available as Open Access, they will be provided
with ISBN/ISSN and full referencing.<br>
