Subject: Arabic Lecturer

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the
University of Chicago announces the opening of the position of Lecturer in
Arabic starting the Autumn Quarter, 1999 (late September), for two years,
renewable.  Duties will include teaching Elementary and Intermediate Modern
Standard Arabic.  This is not a tenure-track position.

Applicants should have native or near-native proficiency in Modern
Standard Arabic and extensive teaching experience. A Ph. D. is desirable
but not required.

Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and three letters of
recommendation, by June 15, 1999, to:
