CALL FOR PAPERS

The Generative Grammar Research Group at the University of Fes (Morocco) is
organising a two-day conference on March 20-21, 2000 on

"Aspects of the morphology and syntax of Chamito-semitic Languages"

Abstracts are welcome in all areas of descriptive and theoretical
linguistics concerned with Chamito-semitic languages. Papers will be forty
minutes long followed by fifteen minutes discussion.

Suggested topics to be discussed during the conference :
-Morphology:  inflection and derivation paradigms
-Word order and syntactic variation
-The morpho-syntax of tense, aspect, negation, adverbs, complementisers,etc
-comparative studies
- Minimalist approaches to chamito-semitic languages: movement, control,
case checking, etc

Abstracts should be sent by 20 January 2000, preferably by e-mail. The name
and contact address (e-mail), plus affiliation should be placed at the top
of the message. The body of the abstract should follow after 6 blank lines.
 The author's name and contacts will be omitted before sending the abstract
to reviewers.
If submitted by air-mail, a hard copy of the abstract as well as a disk
copy should be dispatched to the address below.

Papers will be in English, French and Arabic.

Please note that the University will be able to pay only for participants'
board and lodging, but not for transportation.
