Of course you must consult Elsaid Badawi's work in Arabic on this topic,
whose exact title I don't recall (mustawayaat al-lugha al-9arabiyya....".
A more recent reference is his "The Use of Arabic in Egyptian TV
Commercials: A langauge simulator fdor the training of teachers of Arabic
as a foreign language." GURT 1995, Georgetown U Press, pp. 33-39.
