Subject: Call for Translators in Islamic Education

Translators Needed for Islamic Translation Series

The Islamic Translation Series (ITS) sponsored by Brigham Young University
is searching to contract with qualified scholar-translators who could
assist in translating Islamic texts into the technical language of
contemporary Western scholarship. ITS is currently interested in
translating manuscripts devoted to Islamic educational theory, specifically
selected works of Ibn Sahnun, Al-Zarnuji, Ibn Jama'a, Al- Ghazali, Ikhwan
al-Safa', and Al-Qabisi. The translated works will culminate in a
published parallel English-Arabic anthology devoted to classical
interpretations of Islamic education. Applicants for this ITS project will
be evaluated without regard to religious, methodological, or political
preference or to their gender or national origin. Translators interested
in this project should contact Brad Cook, email: cookbr at uvsc.edu
He can also be reached by telephone at (801) 222-8951. Samples of past
translated work may be requested from interested applicants.
