Subject: Jokes with Glottal Stop Query

Dear List members, 
 
In Morocco and Algeria (and elsewhere) there are jokes about people who
realise /k/ as a glottal stop. 
 
In one of them, someone wants a taxi to /l-kiran/ ("the buss station") but
pronounces /k/ as a glottal stop, and a misunderstanding arises: /bGit
nems+i l 'iran !/ "I want to go to Iran".
 
I think there are more jokes about this, usually with the word /kawkaw/
"peanuts" > [ 'aw'aw ] as the example.
  
Could you perhaps help me with the following:
 
- any information / references on this pronounciation characteristic? What
dialects, sociolects? (I thought I'd seen an article by Simon Levy
referring to it, but I can't find it back.)
- information on this type of jokes? other examples?
 
(I can send a transcript of the joke to anyone who is interested.)
