Subject: Duke/Tunisia Study Abroad

The Department of Asian & African Languages and Literature and the Office
of Study Abroad of Duke University plan to offer a new program in spring
semester 2000. This interdisciplinary program in Mediterranean studies is
the first of its kind to be taught in the Arab world. Directed by Professor
Miriam Cooke, Professor of Arabic, this program will focus on the culture
of the Mediterranean basin with emphasis on the Arabic civilization of
