Subject:Bard College Job

Bard College seeks applications for a half-time visiting position in the
program of Arabic Language and Literature beginning in September of
2003.  The successful candidate will contribute to an established
program in Arabic and must have native or near native proficiency in
Arabic, a record of success in teaching Modern Standard Arabic from
elementary to advanced levels, and the ability to conduct
advanced classes both in Arabic and in English. Research specialization
is open and could include history of the Middle East, Arabic philosophy
Arabic literature or the civilization of the Arab world.  Familiarity
with the use of new media in the classroom and with the important issues
of teaching Arabic as a foreign language is an advantage. Application
deadline is January 31, 2003. Curriculum Vitae, cover
letter and three letters of recommendation should be sent to: Chair,
