The Arabic Language Program at the University of
Pennsylvania is pleased to announce its Summer Intensive
Program for the year 2002. This 6-week program runs from May
20 to June 28. Two proficiency-oriented courses in Modern
Standard Arabic are offered: Intensive Elementary (1st year)
Arabic and Intensive Intermediate (2nd year) Arabic. The 2
overlapping classes meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. for 6 weeks. Students earn 2 University of
Pennsylvania course units for either course. (1 course unit
is equivalent to 4 semester hours at many American
universities.) *Al-Kitaab* is the syllabus used in the
classes. Enrolled students will have access to the full
range of the University of Pennsylvania facilities.
