Subject:M.S.Sofia Chair in Arabic Studies, OSU

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures (NELC) at the  
Ohio State University invites applications for the M.S. Sofia Chair  
in Arabic Studies, at the level of advanced Associate of Full Professor.

The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of classical  
Arabic and native or near-native fluency in modern Arabic; s/he will  
take a leadership role in coordinating all aspects of the Arabic  
program with NELC.  Specialists in all fields of Arabic Studies are  
invited to apply, although particular preference may be given to  
those in the fields of literature, linguistics, or cultural studies.

Please send a CV and names and addresses of three referees to  
Professor Margaret Mills, Chair, M.S. Sofia Chair in Arabic Studies  
Search Committee, NELC, The Ohio State University, 300 Hagerty Hall,  
1775 College Road, Columbus, OH 43210-1340.

Review of applications will begin November 1, 2005 (with a view to  
preliminary interviews at MESA).
