Pending budgetary approval, the Department of Classical and Oriental  
Studies of Hunter College, City University of New York,  plans to  
make a tenure-track appointment for an Assistant Professor of Arabic  
beginning Fall 2006.  Applicants must have PhD by August, 2006,  
native or near-native fluency in Arabic and English, demonstrated  
potential for research and publication, and experience in teaching  
U.S. college-level Arabic language and culture courses.  The  
successful candidate will be expected to teach language courses at  
all levels, but area of specialization and/or research open.

Send letter of application, curriculum vitae, supporting  
documentation (which may include tapes of teaching demonstrations,   
publications, etc.), and three letters of recommendation to: Tamara  
M.  Green, Chair, Department of Classical and Oriental Studies,  
Hunter College, 695 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10021.  Review of  
applications will begin on November 15, 2005.
