Subject:needs suggestions of simple poems

We are going to hold an Arabic declamation contest, with students
reciting a poem or passage of their choice. Can anyone recommend any
very simple poems, preferably ones that they have successfully used
with beginners? There are plenty of Nizar Qabbani poems that are
suitable, but what about other famous poets? I recall reading a very
simple poem by Ilyaa Abu Madi while at university, but I have not
been able to trace it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Regards,
Haroon
