Subject:Needs Study of Arabic Root System

A few years ago I tried to find a systematic study of how Arabic  
roots works. (Whilst this theme is touched on in most  of the  
language manuals, the treatment tends to be fairly cursory). I failed  
to find anything at the time and I wonder if anyone knows of any  
study since (or one that I missed then).
