I would recommend "Nahr al-junuun" نهر الجنون by Tawfiq al- 
Hakiim. I
have NO idea where you can find the text printed (though I've seen
copies of it online), and interestingly I think there are different
versions with very different endings. It's quite a short play, but I
think it's very enjoyable, and the language is actually reasonably
simple, with the exception of a few easily explained constructions. I
believe it has about 7 characters.
