Subject:Dual in MSA refs needed

Hello all, 

Does anyone know of any reference that discusses the continuing decrease of using the dual forms in MSA and the reasons/alternatives for it? I am particularly interested in the dual forms of the demonstratives, but also any general study about the dual forms would be interesting for me.
