Respecting the query about etymological resources, I happen to have stumbled across these:

1.  From a set of appendices from, of all places, the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, provided "to allow the reader to trace English words derived from Semitic languages back to their fundamental components in Proto-Semitic"
