The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at
The George Washington University invites applications for two positions at
the rank of Assistant Professor in Arabic. These are non-tenure accruing
3-year renewable contractual appointments starting in the Fall 2012
semester. It might be possible for the successful candidates to begin in the
Spring 2012 semester. Salary is competitive and commensurate with
qualifications and experience. *Basic qualifications include* native or near
native fluency in Arabic and a demonstrated college-level record of
excellence in teaching the Arabic language at all proficiency levels and
experience in using instructional technology. Ph.D. or ABD in Arabic or
related field is required at the time of appointment.  Preference will be
given to those candidates with an excellent command of English.  *Application
process: * Interested candidates should send a letter of application,
curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, summary of student
course evaluations, three recent confidential letters of recommendation, and
at least three samples of course syllabi and exams. Applicants are also
strongly encouraged to include a recorded demonstration of their teaching
Arabic. Completed applications should be send to Chair of the Arabic Search
