Subject:Oman Study Abroad

The Center for International Learning in Muscat, Oman is now accepting
applications for its study abroad program, Oman: Managing Modernity,
Translating Traditions.

Study in Oman exposes students to the life and traditions of an ancient
desert culture undergoing rapid modernization. Dance at a village wedding,
drink camel milk with a Bedouin while chatting in Arabic, and discuss the
implications of the Oman-U.S. Free Trade Agreement with an Omani government
minister – all in the same week.

Courses include -

Seminar (4 credits): gives students a solid and well-rounded introduction
to the history, culture and present-day political and socio-economic
structure of Oman.
Arabic language (6 credits): offers intensive Arabic (at the beginning,
intermediate and advanced levels) with daily instruction.
Field Research Methods (2 credits): provides students with basic
theoretical concepts and methodological techniques needed to conduct
research projects in the social contexts and non-western cultures.
Theme-Driven Project (4 credits): the culminating requirement in the study
abroad semester, designed to enable students to integrate the various
components of their semester-long program. As such the TDP brings in
elements of Arabic language study, seminar lectures and discussions, and
the course on field research methods.

Apply now for Spring semester 2013 -- deadline is November 15th!
