Full-time Lecturer in Arabic
The Department of Near Eastern Langugages and Cultures at Indiana
University, Bloomington, seeks applicants for a full-time lecturer in
Arabic, effective Fall 2014. Responsibilities will include teaching three
courses from beginning to advanced-level Arabic per semester and actively
participating in all the academic and cultural activities of the Arabic
program. The successful candidate will preferably have a PhD in Arabic
language, linguistics, applied linguistics, or a related field, and is
expected to be competent in the use of instructional technology and
communicative, standards-based teaching methodologies. The candidate must
demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic, an
Arabic dialect, and English. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Please send curriculum vitae, cover letter,
statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations and three letters of
recommendation to Professor Asma Afsaruddin, Chair, Department of Near
Eastern Languages and Cultures, Goodbody Hall 219, Indiana University,
Bloomington, IN 47405. Review of applications will begin September 1, 2013;
applications received by this deadline will receive full consideration. It
is expected that initial interviews will be held at the October MESA
