 The Department of Asian Languages and Literatures in the College of
Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota seeks to fill a full time
appointment to teach Arabic starting fall semester2014. The position will
be full-time for the fall semester 2014 (08/25/14 - 01/07/15) and/or spring
semester 2015 (01/08/15 - 05/24/15). There is an option for teaching summer
courses. The position is for day, evening, or a combination of day/evening
courses, taught on a semester basis. Full-time appointments are eligible
for benefits. Salary range is competitive based upon qualifications. The
position may be annually renewable depending on departmental need, funding
and performance. This posting seeks to establish a pool of applicants
should openings occur during the 2014/15 academic year. Applicants will be
selected from this pool on an as-needed basis through the academic
year.  DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach assigned language classes/sections; keep office
hours; prepare course materials; engage in curriculum development; prepare
and grade exams; and participate in program governance as appropriate.
PREFERRED/REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. or foreign equivalent, in Arabic or related area.
Native or near-native fluency in Arabic. Strong English language
communication skills. Demonstrated university-level teaching experience in
the Arabic language. Candidates with a Masters degree will be appointed as
a Teaching Specialist; those with a Ph.D. will be appointed as a Lecturer.
