The hospitality and assiduousness of Professor Alaa Elgibali,<br>Local Coordinator, created the perfect atmosphere for exchanging ideas<br>and disseminating research. Thanks to Professor Elgibali, the program<br>included twenty papers with five distinguished keynote speakers: Elabbas<br>Benmamoun, Mushira Eid, Jonathan Owens, Yassir Suleiman, and Manfred<br>Woidich. Special thanks to Dr. Saleh Nusairat and Ridha Krizi for their<br>diligent work on the conference program and logistics. The conference<br>would not have been possible without their hard work.<br><br>The conference was sponsored by the Arabic Linguistics Society.<br>Additional support was provided by the School of Languages, Literatures,<br>and Cultures, the Center for the Advanced Study of Language, and the<br>National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland.
