The Department teaches around 90 single honours students and 56<br>students on joint honours programmes. It also contributes to a range of<br>PhD, MPhil and MA programmes and from 2010 will be adding its own MA in<br>Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies.<br><br>The University is currently looking to appoint an outstanding individual<br>to a newly created Chair position in AMES. This individual will<br>additionally be Head of Department for their first three years. This is<br>therefore an exciting opportunity to help shape the future direction of<br>AMES at a time of high student demand and wide-spread recognition of the<br>global strategic importance of the Middle East and Islam.
