The position is for <br>two years. <br><br>"Baseline Data for Arabic Acquisition with Clinical <br>Applications", which began in Fall 2009, is an extensive <br>interdisciplinary project in Linguistics and Children's <br>Health. Project website is at <a href="http://lughataltefel.qu.edu.qa/">http://lughataltefel.qu.edu.qa</a>. <br>The project is multi-institutional and international. The <br>overall goal is to amass an extensive new body of <br>knowledge about normal Arabic first language acquisition <br>and make it available on the internet. The new online <br>material will be used by linguistic researchers for a <br>fuller understanding of language acquisition as a human <br>cognitive capacity, enabling them to answer several <br>critical questions which till now have been unanswerable <br>due to lack of data. The new online material will also <br>provide speech-language pathologists working with <br>Arabic-speaking children with crucial resources that till <br>now are lacking, to improve the quality of life of the <br>children they work with and their families. <br><br>Required qualifications include a PhD in First Language <br>Acquisition, Speech-Language Pathology, or Psychology; <br>IT proficiency; experience with Statistics; experience on <br>a research team; experience in research project <br>management; native competency in oral and written <br>Arabic; and near-native competency in oral and written <br>English.
