<div><div>AU Arabic Language Summer Intensive Program 2012</div><div>Complete a year of Arabic study in 12 weeks</div><div> </div><div>The Department of Language and Foreign Studies at American University in Washington DC is offering three levels of Modern Standard Arabic during the summer 2012 session. Students will have the opportunity to complete a year of academic study of Arabic in 12 weeks during the summer 2012 session. Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Arabic courses will be offered three evenings per week for 12 weeks. A Levantine Colloquial Arabic class will also be offered separately. <div>and syntax. The focus is on the development of the reading, speaking, listening, and writing</div><div>skills, while creating a basic vocabulary. This intensive course covers the material taught during</div><div>the fall and spring semesters.</div>

<div>Arabic grammar, to further develop their reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills, while</div><div>expanding the vocabulary. This intensive course covers the material taught during the fall and</div><div>spring semesters. Prerequisite: ARAB-103 or equivalent.</div>
<div>10 credits, May 21-August 9, MWTH 5:30-9:15pm</div><div> </div><div>ARAB-296 Intensive Levantine Colloquial Arabic</div><div> </div><div>This course introduces students to Levantine Colloquial Arabic, focusing on the development of speaking and listening skills in the Palestinian dialect, while building proficiency in the fundamental grammatical structures of the language. Given its central geographic location, the Palestinian dialect (closely related to the Syrian, Lebanese, and Jordanian dialects) is understood throughout the Arabic-speaking Middle East. Prerequisite: ARAB-203 or equivalent.</div>
