<span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif;font-size:11pt"><br></span><div>The Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Middle Eastern Studies at the American University of Beirut will offer one 6-credit class in intensive colloquial Lebanese Arabic at the intermediate level from June 24 until August 7, 2013.<br>


<p style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">This course is designed for students who already have some knowledge of Levantine dialect and wish to reach a higher level. Students who wish to apply must have studied Modern Standard Arabic for at least two semesters.<u></u><u></u></span></p>


<p style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><u></u> </span><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif;font-size:11pt">The course will use teaching materials developed by CAMES. Lebanese films, songs, and other audiovisual materials will also be used.</span></p>


<p style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:12.727272033691406px"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><u></u> </span><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif;font-size:11pt">The course consists of 120 contact hours, equivalent to 6 credit hours earned at AUB, which may be transferred to other universities.</span></p>
