<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">departmental and program needs.</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Duties:</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Teaching responsibilities include 12 credits per semester in</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Arabic language, literature and culture at the undergraduate-level. The ideal</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">candidate will teach Modern Standard Arabic at all levels, and an upper-level</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">dialect course and Arabic literature (in Arabic). The ability to teach a course</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">on Islamic religious text or thought in Arabic is a plus.</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Qualifications:</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Arabic literature in-hand at time of appointment, but ABD’s may also apply.</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English is required, as is</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">evidence of excellent teaching ability at all levels of Arabic. Familiarity</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">with the latest instructional technologies and commitment to undergraduate</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">education are expected.</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">The department offers a major and a minor in many languages</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">

<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">including a minor in Arabic. The Arabic Program is actively engaged with other</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">units of the university, especially Islamic Studies and Middle Eastern Studies.</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">
