<span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Office hours: By appointment</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">Course Objectives: Students will learn basic skills for translating Arabic texts into English. We will work with a variety of texts that may be encountered by professional translators, including media articles, political texts, and literary and consumer-oriented texts. Students will learn to identify and develop translation strategies; while we work with the field of translation, the course is designed to strengthen second-language acquisition. This course is offered online in order to reach a broad number of students interested in advanced study in Arabic language and Arabic translation. The online format also replicates the real working conditions of translators and allows students to learn not only how to translate, but also how to be a translator in the digital age. Students may take the course for either graduate or undergraduate credit.</span><br style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">
