Perhaps the text database described briefly below might be of use to
researchers into the structure of modern Gaelic (Ulster Irish form).

Gaeldict - Ulster Irish Text Database - An Milliu/n Focal Conallach

Requirements:
  MS-DOS
  Hard disk with 27 MBytes free (less 6 MBytes once installed)

Status on 17/07/1996:
 6 authors; 21 books; 24,022 word-types; 1,005,656 word-tokens

Function:
 A specific word, or words beginning with a specific character-string, may
 be located in the texts. Collocations of several words or stems within a
 sentence may also be sought.
 Results of the search may be displayed in one of three ways:
  . as the frequency of the word(s) in each text
  . as a keyword-in-context concordance
  . as complete sentences with text co-ordinates

What's new this time:
. More texts
. Numerous corrections to existing texts
. Program can find co-occurrences of two or more words or stems
. Program can append the screen contents to a text file using Alt-D
. Program can browse forward and back within the examples from a book,
     using PageUp, PageDown, Home and End keys

What to do:
 Get GAELDICT.INF by ASCII-mode anonymous ftp from yeats.ucs.csufresno.edu,
 and follow the instructions therein.
