XML Schema Documentation

Dear Chi-Bolts,

Franklin Chen has significantly improved the technical documentation of the XML Schema definition of CHAT. This level of documentation is primarily important for programmers who wish to analyze the XML version of the database. The descriptions can be viewed at http://talkbank.org/software/xsddoc/. On the left of this page, you will see all of the components of CHAT in terms of their XML definitions. For example, if you want to know more about "lazy-gem" you can click on that element and the technical page will come up. For a verbal explanation, you can click on the links that say "for more information" and they will open up the relevant segment of the manual (in HTML format for web browsing).
Most users will not need to use this facility. However, it is important to note that every element of the Schema has now been linked to a description segment in the manual. In this sense, we know that nothing in the schema has been undocumented and that there is a tight correspondence between CHAT and the XML Schema.
