video files

Dear Brian

In the database (downloadable version) I see 2 transcripts for each session
(ana02a and ana02b). I think you split the transcripts instead of merging
the video files.

Florence.

Dear Florence,

Yes, this is how it works for all files in the database. It has to work
this way or the files would not pass Chatter and we continually run Chatter
on the database to check for any divergences. I checked the Lyon files in
/Romance/French/Lyon and they follow the one-transcript/one-media
constraint. Did I miss something?

Dear Brian,

Thanks for your answer.

Do you mean that it has been done for the Lyon corpus (the archive on the
database website doesn’t show this way) ?

Thanks,

Florence.

Dear Florence,

We have introduced the one-transcript/one-video restriction to avoid
errors in time coding, data analysis, and more consistent maintenance of the
database. At CMU we found that the best procedure was usually to merge the
video into one file using QuickTime Pro. All files in the database now
follow this restriction.

Dear Leonid,

In an old project, we have 2 video files (.mov) for each recording session
(first part, second part due to FAT32 file size limitations) ; Is it
possible to indicate the 2 files on the @Media line, or do you suggest we
make one file out of the 2 ?

Thanks,

Florence
