<font face="Arial, Helvetica">Dear Info-ChiBolts,<br><br>
We are in the process of coding transcriptions of French-speaking and
bilingual children in order to study the development of some spatial
expressions. I would be glad to check if some words, which appear in the
productions (the main line), were not forgotten in the coding tier, and,
if it was the case, to retrieve the lines and correct them. As I was not
entirely successful in my previous attempts, it would be helpful for us
if some of you can suggest a way to cope with this problem.<br>
Our coding tier %cod is hierarchical and made up of ten levels or fields
separated by colons. Levels code several things like the situation, the
verb, the possible expression of a figure and a ground, etc. For
instance, the fifth level codes some spatial expressions like
prepositions and adverbs: the occurrence of the French preposition “dans”
(<i>in</i>) will be coded “…:SEP|dans:…”, “SEP” standing for “Spatial
Expression, Preposition”. So, I want to retrieve automatically (with
combo or kwal and pipes) all the main lines containing “dans” where the
dependent tier %cod does not contain “SEP|dans” as its fifth level, and
only these lines. So far, I had difficulties to specify properly this
last constraint (I tried with “!”, but perhaps I made errors specifying
its scope).<br><br>
Hope my English is understandable,<br><br>
Christian.<br>
