I have now confirmed that the same file-access error also occurs with KWAL, so it appears to be related to the security module rather than to a particular command. </p><p>I understand that the problem may not be fixed immediately. In the meantime, I will use the desktop version of CLAN and the downloadable data files as you suggested. </p><p>

I have been experiencing the same problem that Prof. Ken Nakatani reported<br>
previously. When I try to run the MLU command, I receive the following<br>

**** WARNING: No file matching "*.cha" was found.<br>
<br>
The problem still seems to persist, and I have been unable to calculate MLU<br>
using the Browsable Database.<br>

As I use the Browsable Database in my undergraduate classes, I would<br>
greatly appreciate any advice on how to resolve this issue or whether there<br>
is an alternative way to calculate MLU.<br>

I understand that the CHILDES environment is undergoing changes, and I<br>
sincerely appreciate all the work involved in maintaining and improving<br>
these resources.<br>

I am sorry to say, but the security module used on Browsable Database fails often and needs to be manually restarted and reset. Unfortunately, I do not know how to reset it. I am copying this message to the person who is responsible for Browsable Database. He does not subscribe to Chibolts, so someone has to relay error messages to him. I suspect this will not get fixed until Friday our time.<br>

In the meantime may I suggest downloading desktop CLAN from <a href="https://dali.talkbank.org/clan/" target="_blank">https://dali.talkbank.org/clan/</a>. And you can download data files from <a href="https://talkbank.org/childes/access/index.html" target="_blank">https://talkbank.org/childes/access/index.html</a>.<br>

In childes/Eng-NA/Brown/Adam/, I selected kwal and entered:<br>
+tCHI +swant* +w2 -w2 020304.cha<br>
<br>
The output was:<br>
**** WARNING: No file matching "020304.cha" was found.<br>
<br>
The file 020304.cha is displayed in the folder, and the same file can now<br>
be processed with MLU. Could you please check the KWAL configuration as<br>
well?<br>
