Incidentally,

At least one of our list members is a relative of Ranald McDonald.

There is a semi-serious conjecture that he may have been the first speaker of Chinuk-Wawa in Japan.  (Sorry, Yann!)

Also, many highway maps of Washington State sold at gas stations show the location of Ranald's grave.  That area of North-Central Washington is sparsely populated, so the cartographers added the historical site that most interested them, I guess.
