"hooey"

A common BC interior word popped into my head a few moments ago: "hooey"
always meaning "not true". Pronounced "hu-i" with the emphasis on the
first syllable. Someone might say, "that's a load of hooey". Or just
"Hooey!"

Any CJ origin to this word and do folks say this in the USA also?
