Geographic place names references

I remember we looked for comprehensive place names lists a few years ago,
but seem to recall we couldn't find a really thorough one on the Web back
in those early days.

Washington place names: http://geonames.usgs.gov/stategaz/washington
Oregon: http://geonames.usgs.gov/stategaz/oregon

These are huge lists (include streams, parks, radio towers, etc.). Zipped
versions can be downloaded from http://geonames.usgs.gov/stategaz/index.html

More easily browsed is this Oregon list, apparently derived from the above
but presented on separate pages by initial letter:
http://nwdata.geol.pdx.edu/OR-GIS/PlaceNames/  Can't seem to find a similar
version for Wash.
