To add yet another option to the list, you may want to check out COALS,
which is a co-occurrence vector based system similar to LSA which I
developed while at CMU and MIT.  The following web page has a paper
explaining the model and giving performance comparisons with other
methods, and also allows you to download pre-computed vectors.
