Przemek,

ame=BNC&refs=%3Dbncdoc.id> 21497 hits, 1075 pages such as the below, of
"you are" available at the Word Sketch Engine. http://www.sketchengine.co.uk
<http://www.sketchengine.co.uk/>

Depending on your mail reader, you can hit the number and go straight to the
search result. You'll need a WSE username and password, available by return
of email at the URL above.

Any moderately formal registers that use "you" (eg official leaflets) will
not use contractions.

Best,

Adam

Subject: [Corpora-List] you vs. contractions

Dear List Members,

Are there any registers/genres in English in which the pronoun "you"

co-occurs (textually) with fully written rather than contracted forms? I

tried to extract such texts from the BNC using the SARA interface but

could not. If anyone can point to relevant research or help with

extraction, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks!

Przemek
