Hello Lia,

MICASE is made up of spoken discourse as far as I know.

Re tagging for evaluation (appraisal systems), software is being worked on but it's not an easy project, given the delicacy of the systems...For tips you might contact Lexie Don at eldon at panix.com

as she's been doing a lot of this in her corpus.

Best,
Donna

Subject: [Corpora-List] Reference corpus of Academic English

Dear All,
I made up a specialised corpus of scientific research article abstracts (time span 2000-2005), now I am looking for a reference corpus of academic English (preferably written register). I was thinking about the MICASE or?
Furthermore, I intend to tag it semantically for specific investigations like textual colligation, evaluation and cohesion. The authors I am referring to are Hoey, Hunston & Thompson, Martin. Does anybody have any hints, clues or pieces of advice to suggest?
Thanking you for your colloboration.

Best wishes
