Research Positions at City University of Hong Kong: Computational Linguistics

The Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics, City University of Hong Kong,
which offers a highly stimulating working atmosphere and participates in multiple
cutting-edge research projects and partnerships, is looking to employ two researchers:

1. Research scientist in interactive telephony speech recognition

Candidates should have a degree in computational linguistics, computer science, or a
related discipline. Candidates are expected to have a strong interest in NLP and
willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment. They should have the following
qualifications: experience developing telephony IVR applications, experience working with
Nuance Voice Platform, good programming skills in VXML, JSP and C/C++, and fluency in
English.

2. Post-doctoral computational linguist in machine translation

Candidates should have a PhD degree in computational linguistics, computer science, or a
related discipline. Candidates are expected to have a strong interest in NLP and
willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment. They should have the following
qualifications: experience developing example-based machine translation systems,
experience developing parallel text corpora, experience developing lexical databases, good
programming skills in Perl and C/C++, and fluency in both Chinese and English.
Demonstrated research and publication track record a plus.
