Oxford Dictionaries: New Dictionary/Corpus Project

The English Dictionaries' Department of Oxford University Press is
looking for freelance lexicographers, graduates, or undergraduates to
work on an exciting new dictionary project. The project is due to
start in June 2007, and involves linkage between dictionary data and
corpus/natural language data.

We are looking for both British and American English
native-speakers. You should be educated to degree level, quick to
learn, with a strong background and interest in the English language:
lexicographical study or experience is desirable but not
essential. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and linguistic
skills are essential, together with good IT skills and the ability to
work quickly and to keep to given schedules. Because the work is
entirely Web-based, you will need access to Mozilla Firefox 1 or 2.0
or Internet Explorer 6 and above.

The work is paid according to an hourly fee, and hours and periods of
working are flexible within the requirements of the schedule.

If you are interested, please apply, with a CV/résumé and covering
letter, to Catherine Soanes, either by email to

University Press, Great Clarendon St, Oxford, OX2 6DP, United Kingdom.

As part of the application process, selected candidates will be asked
to complete a short online aptitude test. Closing date for receipt of
applications is 31 May 2007.
