For the attention of all Postgraduate students working in Applied Linguistics and related areas:

Dear Postgraduates,

I am currently standing as the Postgraduate Development and Liaison Officer for BAAL and I am contacting you, as a current or former member of the BAAL PG community, to kindly ask for your input regarding this year's annual BAAL conference.

For this year's conference we are proposing to hold a 2-hour Postgraduate 'focus-group' event, during which 3 invited academic guest speakers will each deliver a 40 minute paper (30 minutes delivery, 10 minutes for expanding particular points-of-discussion) on their past and/ or current research experience and expertise, discussing the 'how, when and why' of the specific qualitative and/ or quantitative methods and strategies for Applied Linguistic research, and how they put linguistic theory into practice.

Although we have a few speakers and topics in mind I thought it would be appropriate to ask you whether you have any specific issues, questions or concerns with particular research methodologies and/or analytical practices within the field of linguistics, that you would like to be addressed at this event. Please contact aexdk3 at nottingham.ac.uk with your ideas and / or comments. I look forward to your reply,

Dawn Knight (part of the Nottingham CLARET group)
