Dear colleagues,

Please join us for the Third International AAAI Conference on Weblogs
and Social Media (ICWSM 2009), to be held May 17-20, 2009 at the
Marriott in San Jose, California. The date to qualify for the early
registration (non-onsite) fee is Friday, April 17. This
interdisciplinary conference will bring together researchers and
industry leaders interested in creating and analyzing social media.
Researchers representing such diverse disciplines as computer science,
linguistics, psychology, statistics, sociology, multimedia and semantic
web technologies will attend.

The technical program schedule is now available at
http://www.icwsm.org/2009/schedule.shtml. In addition to 21 oral paper
presentations, 48 poster presentations, and 5 demos, the program
includes an impressive line-up of invited speakers:

   * Jon Kleinberg, Cornell University;
   * Lillian Lee, Cornell University; and
   * Duncan Watts, Columbia University and Yahoo! Research.

Two tutorials will be presented on May 17, entitled:

   * Predictive Modeling with Social Networks
     by Jennifer Neville (Purdue University) and
     Foster Provost (New York University);

   * The Psychology of Social Media
     by Sam Gosling (University of Texas, Austin).

A special "data challenge workshop" will be held on May 20 for author
presentations resulting from the use of the ICWSM-09 dataset, as well as
a broader discussion of data issues and opportunities confronting the
social media community. An award will be presented at the conference for
the best paper using the dataset.

The main technical conference will kick off with a reception at the Tech
Museum of Innovation in San Jose on Monday, May 18, and a
conference-wide poster/demo reception will be held Tuesday evening, May
19.
