Post-doc research position in the AAC

Job description: The applicant will be expected to do independent research in the area of discourse studies/text linguistics with large data corpora of Austrian-German texts of the 19th and 20th centuries. In this way, s/he will also be expected to be knowledgeable in genre analysis and discourse- and text analysis, and be prepared to acquire necessary expertise in corpus linguistics and other qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

The applicant will be affiliated to a group of excellent scholars doing corpus research as well as to other researchers in related interdisciplinary areas. Requirements: The researcher we are looking for has a PhD in (Applied) Linguistics or any other discipline in the Humanities or Social Sciences with a research focus on the study of discourse and language change in various text genres. Ideally, s/he also has a background in applied research making use of written textual data, international experience and a publication record in the field. Excellent spoken and written language skills in German and English are also a pre-condition.

How and where to apply: The AAC - Austrian Academy Corpus (cf.
http://www.aac.ac.at/) is a research unit based within the
Austrian Academy of Sciences, which is mainly funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research, and is situated in the historic centre of Vienna (Austria). Interested applicants should submit their CV along with a statement of her/his research interests, a short research project proposal for a 2 (or 3)-year project in the above-mentioned areas (ca 10 pages), and two reference letters.

The position is open until filled; the duration of the contract will be up to four years with the possibility of extension to a long-term or permanent position.
